Roy joined OPK in January of 1993. He has been very active on the Sponsored Youth Committee, forming K-Kids, Builders Clubs and Key Clubs over the years. He has also served on the Board of Trustees and as President and CEO of the OPK Foundation. In 2010, Roy was selected as the first receipent of the Richard Robinson Leadership Award by the OPK Foundation Board of Trustees.

Roy is a Super-distinguished Past Lt. Governor of Division 37. He is a Kiwanis International Hixson Fellow. He has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Califonia Nevada-Hawaii District Foundation and is a Life Member of both Kiwanis International and the CNH District of Kiwanis International.

Roy has served the Club as Club President twice, Treasurer, and as a committee chair and as the C.E.O. of the OPK Foundation. He was honored as OPK's Kiwanian of the Year in 2000-2001.

Roy is a past member of the City of Oceanside's Planning Commission.
