Michael joined OPK in March of 1995. He is a Past Distinguished President. He has served on the Young Children: Priority One Committee for many years and is President of the OPK Foundation Board of Trustees. Michael is a Distinguished Kiwanian and has been honored with the Rookie of the Year Award in 1995-96 and the Will Blake-Bob Sample Service Award in 1998-99. He has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation. Michael was OPK's Kiwanian of the Year for 2006-2007.
Michael served on the Board of Casa de Amparo for 11 years, including a term as President. He has served on the board and as president of the Oceanside Boys and Girls Club. He was the Presiding Officer for the Oceanside Manufactured Home Fair Practices Commission for three years.
He also coaches in the National Little League. He was Judge Advocate for the Oceanside Yacht Club for nine years and provides Pro Bono services for the Oceanside Senior Citizen Center.
