Projects Description
K 1 Day
Worldwide one day each year, the Kiwanis family of Clubs participate in community improvement projects in their communities.
Volunteer of the Month
A Volunteer of the Month from the community is selected each month by the various committees and the cost is of a plaque and breakfast for the winner and their family is borne by the Community Services Committee.
Medal of Honor
MiraCosta College honors outstanding graduates with its Medal of Honor. We sponsor one or more of these students each year.
Holiday Home Tours
We provide docents for the home that are shown and/or act as hostesses and hosts during the day long event. OPK also sponsors prizes and gifts to assist the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library in this fund raising event.
See-Gull Stuffing
Members stuff the see-gulls once a quarter for mailing. The See-Gull is the Library Newsletter.
Library Book Sale
Members assist the Library with its quarterly book sale.
Community Conference
Each year, the Club organizes a Community Conference which gathers citizens together to address the topic, What can we do to make Oceanside a better place to live. We derive some projects from their input each year.
Relay for Life
Participation in the American Cancer Society fund raiser Relay for Life includes sponsorship of a team and financial assistance.
YMCA Adult Swim
Financial assistance is provided to help adults who are unable to meet the costs of participation.
4th of July Fireworks
A contribution is made to the Main street Oceanside organization that sponsors the 4th of July fireworks show.
Diabetes Awareness
Provide financial support and educational materials.
Oceanside Museum of Art
A financial contribution has been made to help the Museum's School of Art carry on its free programs for adults and youth of the City of Oceanside.
Defibrillation Units (AED)
Automatic External Defibrillation units are life savers. To date, over 40 units have been placed in public buildings, patrol cars, and in the high schools in the community. In addition, staff at the sites and police officers have been trained in how to use the AED units.
Oceanside Reads Adult Literacy project
Assistance in finding tutors, making a financial donation and by support for the project in other ways.
Turkey Trot
We provide volunteers in the registration process and in the distribution of T-shirts and other prizes to the racers on Thanksgiving morning.
